Noyce Scholarships
Growing Outstanding Teachers of Mathematics (GOTMath). A program funded by National Science Foundation's Prestigious Robert Noyce Scholarship program.
Scholarships for Mathematics Majors and Mathematics Single Subject Credential students
This program will provide the following great opportunities:
- Receive $5,000 each semester for three semesters for junior and senior mathematics majors or Single Subject Mathematics Credential students.
- Receive content mentoring by professors and peers particularly while taking difficult math classes.
- Participate in pedagogical seminars by experienced teachers to become a better teacher.
- Join professional organizations and travel to regional and national conferences.
- Participate in undergraduate research opportunities and present results at conferences.
- Earn an additional stipend for serving as a supplementary instructor, lab facilitator, tutor, or grader for mathematics courses.
- Join summer and year-round programs to develop teaching skills
Eligibility Criteria
- Interested in becoming a middle or high school mathematics teacher
- Minimum 3.0 GPA and good progress in mathematics classes
- Must be a junior (60 units or higher) or senior math major, or Mathematics Single Subject Credential student
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Program Requirements
- Under the NSF service obligation requirement, the scholarship recipient will teach for two years for each year that funding is awarded. Recipient service obligations must be met by obtaining a full-time teaching employment contract in a high need school anywhere in the United States. This service obligation is to be fullfilled within eight years after completing the credential program requirements.
- Maintain 3.0 GPA
- Participate in program activities until graduation
- Provide school data of your teaching
- Sign an obligatory legal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) binding the individual to the conditions of the Noyce Scholarship program.
