The Psychology Department Petitions Process
The Psychology Department's Petitions Process happens before every Fall and Spring semester, in order to help students progress toward graduation if they cannot obtain a seat in a needed class through standard registration procedures.

The Fall 2026 petitions process opens on July 6, 2026.
The Fall 2026 petition form will begin accepting applications on July 6, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
Below, please find the dates for the FALL 2026 semester, to give you a sense of the timing:
- Submission period. (FALL 2026: Closes on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:59pm Pacific Time)
- Students fill out the petition form. (NOTE: the form will only be available during the submission period)
- Evaluation period (FALL 2026: July 27-Aug. 21, 2026)
- Committee evaluates all requests
- Notification period (FALL 2026: Begins Aug. 21, 2026)
- Department emails you with a permission number
