All psychology students are encouraged to join the Psychology Club, regardless of their GPA. Those who qualify for Psi Chi are encouraged to join the national organization in addition to the Psychology Club.

Psychology Club

Mission: In addition to providing opportunities for academic excellence in psychology, the Psychology Club focuses on inclusion, professional development, and creating a fun and engaging environment for learning about psychology. It offers opportunities for mentorship (both peer and faculty) and encourages curiosity and exploration in the field of psychology.

Eligibility: Open to all psychology students.

Benefits: Community, mentorship, access to guest lectures, professional development workshops, and potential funding for activities and presentations at conferences.

How to Join the Psychology Club:

The officers are working on restructuring the application process. In the meantime, please fill out this form to indicate your interest.

Psi Chi

Mission: Founded in 1929, Psi Chi aims to encourage excellence in scholarship and advance the science of psychology. It recognizes academic achievement and offers a platform for furthering psychological science.

Eligibility for Undergraduate Students:

  • Completed 3 semesters or 5 quarters of coursework
  • Completed 9 semester hours or 14 quarter hours of psychology courses

Eligibility for Graduate Students:

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale in graduate courses

To join Psi Chi, follow these three steps:

  1. Fill out the Psi Chi Membership Application.
  2. Complete this form so that Psi Chi's faculty advisor can confirm your eligibility. This form is checked at the beginning of every month, so if you submit after the first of the month, you will have to wait until next month for your eligibility to be confirmed.
  3. Pay your dues after receiving a payment link from Psi Chi's office (you will have one month to pay the dues after receiving the payment link).
    • Cost: $60 directly paid to Psi Chi's international office for a lifetime membership.

Should I Join the Psychology Club or Psi Chi?

The Psychology Club and Psi Chi operate as a joint organization. All members have access to resources offered by the psychology department, but Psi Chi members receive additional benefits from the international organization. All students are encouraged to join the Psychology Club, and you can join Psi Chi too if you qualify. The unique benefits of being a Psi Chi member includes a membership certificate, access to psychology-related publications, eligibility for awards and grants, and international recognition.
