Professional Biography:
Dr. Mortimer received her doctorate in Psychology and Neural Science with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the state of California. She is currently a professor of Psychology at California State University, Fresno, where she serves as the Undergraduate Curriculum Coordinator and Class Coordinator for Psych 63, Intro to the Psych Major, and Psych 179I, Supervised Internship Experience. Her clinical and research interests involve leveraging hybrid technology to improve student outcomes through evidence-based learning practices, the development and treatment of complex post-traumatic stress disorder, the development and prevention of acute stress disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder in wilderness settings, and the diagnosis and support of people with dementia and their families. Dr. Mortimer represents the Psychology Department as a CSUF Academic Senator. In 2022 and 2024, she received the College of Science and Mathematics Distinguished Faculty Service Award, and in 2024, she received the Career Development Center Faculty Career Champion of the Year Award. Dr. Mortimer has been instrumental in building an engagement requirement into the undergraduate Psychology major to increase graduate career readiness.
