Dr. David Frank is a Professor of Chemistry at California State University, Fresno. He earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the University of Rochester in 1970, synthesizing morphine derivatives under the direction of Professor Marshall Gates, who first synthesized morphine in 1952.

Areas of Specialty

Dr. Frank has had a long-standing interest in chemical education, and was hired to oversee the general and introductory courses at CSU Fresno in 1970. He has authored four chemistry laboratory manuals, a laser disc of chemical demonstrations and animations (published by West in 1995), and, with co-author Dr. Jeff Appling, the CD "Discover Chemistry", a set of interactive general chemistry exercises, in 1999, published by West Publishing, then by Brooks/Cole Publishing. 

Recently Dr. Frank has taken over the role of chief premedical advisor for the College of Science and Mathematics. He is also serves as advisor to the Fresno State Premedical Club.
