Forensic Science

Forensic science is the application of scientific knowledge to questions of civil and criminal law. The collection, preservation, analysis, and interpretation of physical evidence - ranging from body fluids to chemicals and impressions left at crime scenes - requires the expertise of many traditional scientific disciplines. The disciplines most commonly employed include biology and medicine, chemistry, physics, geology, computer science, and psychology. However, any science that is used for legal purposes may be considered a "forensic science". The majority of forensic scientists specialize in a single scientific discipline such as biology or chemistry.
