13-Oct Dr.
James
Miranda, Assistant Professor, Sacramento State:
Indirect Electroreductive Cyclization and
Electrohydrocyclization Using Catalitic Reduced Nickel (II)
Salen.
Efforts to achieve the electroreductive cyclization (ERC) and the electro-hydrocyclization (EHC) reactions using catalytic nickel(II) salen are described. Cyclic voltammetry was used to demonstrate the presence of a catalytic current. Results of the investigation as well as a discussion of reaction mechanism will be presented.
Dr. Miranda holds a Ph.D. from UC Santa Barbara, and a M.S. in Chemistry from Fresno State. Abstract PDF
