I am interested in designing and developing next-generation antibiotics from diverse genomic tools. I envision my long-term research goal of contributing to the global health issue of antimicrobial resistance by providing a broader spectrum of antimicrobial tools against multidrug-resistant bacteria. As a postdoctoral researcher at UC Berkeley, I was part of the Somatic Cell Genome Editing (SCGE) program of the NIH to advance genome-editing technologies (PIs: Prof. Jill Banfield and Prof. Jennifer Doudna). My role was to lead a project aimed at expanding new genome-editing tools (beyond CRISPR-Cas systems). During my graduate studies, I focused on the development of novel computational methods for big genomic data.
