College of Science and Mathematics

Deans' Student Advisory Circle

The Deans’ Student Advisory Circle (DSAC) serves as a direct line of communication between students and the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics (Dr. Christopher Meyer) and Senior Associate Dean (Dr. Joy Goto). The Dean’s Student Advisory Circle strives to bring about innovative changes to the college and lobbies on behalf of the CSM students on university-wide issues. Members often develop surveys and use survey results to make recommendations to present to the dean to affect change in common areas of interest to students.

Rawan Almufleyhi

Chairsperson

I am the current DSAC chairperson and a senior biology student. As I approach the end of my time at Fresno State, I strive to make a lasting impact on behalf of the CSM student body. Initially, I joined DSAC because I found a sense of comfort in knowing it was established to hear the voices of students on campus. As acting president, I commit to honoring my duties, while keeping the students’ best interests in mind. As a first-generation student, I understand the struggles of trying to navigate through the college experience. My hope is for DSAC to become a space where students can ask questions, gain experiences, and form new relationships

Vice Chairsperson

On campus, I am also involved with Fresno State's Kesem chapter, where I serve as the volunteer coordinator. At the Student Health and Counseling Center, I am the Vice President of the PAW (Peer Ambassador of Wellness) program and a member of SHAC (Student Health Advisory Committee). For the past 2 years, I have also been an officer for the Active Minds Club, which promotes mental health on campus. I also am a part of the UCSF ARA program, where I get to engage in biomedical research through UCSF Fresno. I am also very excited to serve as this year's ASI Senator for the College of Science and Mathematics. In the future, I would love to work in the medical field!

Secretary

I am currently serving as the secretary for the Dean’s advisory committee and some of
my duties include keeping track of information during our meetings, keeping record of minutes,
updating and maintaining information and lists. I also reach out to other students and engage
with them and encourage them to join the committee. My goals for DSAC are to provide a safe
and welcoming space for expression and leadership development. I would like to advocate for
minority communities and mentor students to become successful in their academic journey.
Outside of school, I enjoy quality time with my family and friends. I also enjoy volunteering and
engaging with a diverse community. Some of my hobbies include playing chess, roller skating
and reading self help books.
