Degrees and Programs
The Department of Biology offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs to prepare students for varied careers in the biological sciences.
Undergraduate students majoring in biology must complete the Biology Core curriculum (two semesters of introductory biology, ecology, genetics, cell biology, genetics/cell biology lab, and evolution) as well as several biology electives tailored to their area of interest. There are a number of additional requirements, as well, in math, chemistry, physics, and statistics. Please see the General Catalog for more details.
Graduate students may choose to earn a Master of Science in Biology degree, earned by completion of original research in collaboration with one of the Department's graduate faculty members, or to enter the graduate program in Biotechnology: the Professional Science Master's Program in Biotechnology.
For more details, please contact the department office to be connected to a faculty member for advising.
