Dr. Jones earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley,
a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University,
and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Human Development, University
of California, Berkeley before joining Fresno State as a faculty member in the Psychology
department in 1993. She primarily teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses
on statistics and research design and has currently published a text with Rowman and
Littlefield entitled The Essentials of College Teaching.
Dr. Jones has published over 30 journal articles and has received grants from the
National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institute on Aging, and The National
Science Foundation. She is a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. Her
efforts have been recognized by several awards, including the 2010 Provost’s Award
for Outstanding Graduate Teaching and Mentoring. She has coordinated “Preparing Future
Faculty” workshops since 2006. Dr. Jones was Chair of the Department of Psychology
for nearly 10 years, completing her last term in 2019.
