Stan Gomez earned their Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at California State University,
Fresno in 2022. During their undergraduate studies, they joined Dr. Qiao-Hong Chen's
medicinal chemistry research lab in February 2020 and soon thereafter became an NIH-RISE
Fellow. They continued to work in Dr. Chen's lab after joining California State University,
Fresno's Master of Science in Chemistry Program in 2022. Their graduate research focused
on pursuing a more practical and accessible route toward the synthesis of a group
of marine sponge molecules with anticancer potential. They earned their Master of
Science in Chemistry in 2025 and subsequently joined the Department of Chemistry and
Biochemistry at California State University, Fresno as a lecturer.
Stan Gomez's research interests include lead compound optimization for potential anticancer
therapeutics, bioactive natural products, bioorganic drug design, and biomimetic synthesis.
