Areas of Expertise and Interest

Test the current theory of particle physics and search for new physics beyond the current known physics framework on the ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC ApparatuS) experiment of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). I have been serving as the team leader of the CSU Fresno ATLAS program (2007 to present) and team leader of the CSU ATLAS program (2015 to present). My ATLAS research has been supported by National Science Foundation (NSF) Elementary Particle Physics (EPP) program, Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program, and International Research Experience for Students (IRES) program. More information about the CSU Fresno ATLAS program, CSU ATLAS program, and CSU Nuclear and Particle Physics Consortium (NUPAC) can be found at: http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~yogao/ATLAS/

Selected Publications

1. “Observation of a new particle in the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson with the ATLAS detector at the LHC” (Phys. Lett. B716
(2012) 1).

2. “A particle consistent with the Higgs Boson observed with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider” (Science 338 (2012) 1576).
