Fresno State's Partnership With California Health Sciences University (CHSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine

Fresno State is proud to collaborate with California Health Sciences University (CHSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine in Clovis, CA, to support students in their pursuit of a medical education and streamline their path to a healthcare career. Through this partnership, eligible students may benefit from two programs: Early Acceptance and Guaranteed Interview

Peer Mentorship Program

CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU-COM) Pre-SOMA, in collaboration with Fresno State’s Health Careers Opportunity Program – Health Professions Pathway Program (HCOP-HPPP), is offering a mentorship opportunity for Fresno State PreMed students.

Who Can Apply:

  • All Fresno State PreMed students (priority given to HCOP-HPPP sophomores and above with a minimum 3.0 GPA)

  • Recent alumni (students in a gap year) are also eligible

Why Participate:

  • Get paired with a CHSU-COM mentor with similar interests and background

  • Receive guidance on academics, MCAT prep, application strategy, and the medical school journey

  • Build connections in the osteopathic medical community

Early Acceptance Program

The California Health Sciences University (CHSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine Early Acceptance Program offers eligible Fresno State students an opportunity to secure early acceptance into CHSU's medical school. To qualify, students must meet specific academic requirements, participate in interviews, and demonstrate a commitment to healthcare.

Key Program Requirements:

  • Application window: August 1 - October 1, 2026

  • Good Standing: Must be a sophomore or junior in good standing at Fresno State

  • Interview Process:

    • Must interview with Fresno State pre-health advisor and two CHSU-COM faculty members, including one from the admissions committee.

  • Academic Requirements:

    • Complete required courses with a grade "B" or better before graduation.

    • Required courses include general biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, math, and English.

  • GPA: Maintain a minimum science (BCMP) and overall GPA of 3.50.

  • MCAT: Achieve a score at or above the 50th percentile prior to graduation.

  • Healthcare Experience: Complete at least 50 hours of healthcare volunteer, community service, or shadowing experience.

  • Commitment: Agree to all terms outlined in the agreement and CHSU-COM admissions policies.

  • FERPA: Review and complete the FERPA authorization form.

Guaranteed Interview Program

The California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU-COM) Guaranteed Interview Program provides eligible Fresno State students the opportunity to secure an interview for CHSU-COM’s medical school. To qualify, students must meet academic, MCAT, healthcare experience, and application requirements.

Key Program Requirements:

  • Application window: June 1 - August 31, 2026 (for Fall 2027 entering class)

  • General Admission Requirements:

    • Submit primary application to AACOMAS (must be in the current application cycle).

    • Submit a secondary application to CHSU-COM.

    • Provide a favorable letter of recommendation from Fresno State pre-med advisor/committee.

    • Complete criminal background check, drug screening, and immunization compliance.

  • Academic Requirements:

    • Complete all required courses before graduation (biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, math, and English).

    • Maintain a science (BCMP) and overall GPA of 3.20 or higher.

  • MCAT: Obtain a score at or above the 50th percentile within the CHSU-COM specified time frame.

  • Healthcare Experience: Complete at least 50 hours of healthcare volunteer, community service, or shadowing experience.

  • Compliance: Agree to all terms outlined in the agreement and CHSU-COM admissions policies.
