About our center:

Fresno State CASA provides a supportive, inclusive environment for students pursuing STEM and targeted health professions. As the home of university and grant-funded programs, CASA promotes academic success, retention, graduation, and preparation for advanced study and careers in health and STEM fields.

"I am the Founding Director of the Center for Access to Science for All (CASA) at Fresno State and a proud two-time alumna. As the eldest daughter of immigrant farmworkers, I have dedicated more than 25 years to expanding educational opportunities for students from historically underserved communities. I am passionate about helping students succeed and preparing the next generation of health care and STEM professionals."

Fun fact: My husband and I have five children, and we love spending time togheter outdoors.

“I serve students by driving marketing and communications efforts and designing impactful campaigns, managing social media strategies, and creating cohesive branding for all CASA programs. I support student engagement through outreach, newsletters, and event coordination, while also assisting with daily operations, financial planning, and policy interpretation. I foster a collaborative, inclusive workplace, manage budgets, and supervise student assistants to ensure the efficient functioning of the center. ”

“I facilite summer internships, provide guidance and resources for MCAT, DAT, OAT, and GRE test preparation, organize student events, assist with professional pathway navigation, and offer holistic support to ensure overall student success and well-being. I also support CASA staff and coordinators in organizing events, trips, workshops, and outreach events to help students excel in their undergraduate careers and prepare for their graduate education or professional pursuits.”

 

Fun fact: I love snorkling, ziplining, and trying new food.

“I am a lecturer, program director, and student advocate at Fresno State with a background in scientific and biomedical research, laboratory coordination, and grant-funded program leadership.

As Director of BOND, I help students build the knowledge, confidence, and professional skills they need to succeed in college and beyond. My work includes teaching lecture and laboratory courses, mentoring undergraduate researchers, developing academic enrichment and professional-development programming, and preparing students for graduate education and science-related careers."

Fun fact: My most favorite past time is swimming with dolphins!
