We are pleased that you are interested in becoming a volunteer MASS Peer Mentor to support our first-year freshmen within the College of Science and Mathematics. We anticipate that you will find many rewards as you begin your journey in the MASS Peer Mentor program.

Duties and Responsibilities of a MASS Peer Mentor: 

• Complete required trainings in the beginning of August 2021 & January 2022

• Attend end of semester one-on-one meeting with a MASS Supervisor/Peer Mentor Lead

• Attend mandatory team meetings once a month

• Manage a caseload of first year college freshman

• Document outreaches and mentoring sessions in Bulldog Connect

• Submit required documents in a timely manner

• Effectively communicate with MASS supervisors & Peer Mentor Leads

• Abide to program and university code of conduct and policies

Qualifications and Experience:

• Applicant must have attended at least one semester and be enrolled in at least six (6) units as a student at California State University, Fresno for the 2020/2021 academic year

• Applicant must be a major in one of the College of Science and Mathematics' degree programs

• Applicant must have a minimum 3.00 GPA (exceptions will be made on a case by case basis)

• Preferred applicant must be a junior, senior, or graduate student level (exceptions will be made on a case by case basis)

• Applicant with customer service related skills and knowledge of web-based applications are preferred, but not required

• Applicant must have the ability to:

    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    • Work with diverse populations in a respectful and professional manner

    • Work efficiently in a multi-task environment

    • Maintain confidentiality
