2023/2024 MASS Peer Mentor Application
We are pleased that you are interested in becoming a volunteer MASS Peer Mentor to support our first-year freshmen within the College of Science and Mathematics. We anticipate that you will find many rewards as you begin your journey in the MASS Peer Mentor program.
Duties and Responsibilities of a MASS Peer Mentor:
• Complete required trainings in the beginning of June/August 2023 & January 2024
• Attend required end of semester one-on-one meeting with a MASS Supervisor/Peer
Mentor Lead (Fall/Spring)
• Attend mandatory group meetings once a month
• Manage a caseload of first year college freshmen
• Document outreaches and mentoring sessions in Bulldog Connect
• Submit required documents in a timely manner
• Effectively communicate with MASS Supervisors and Peer Mentor Leads
• Abide to program and university code of conduct and policies
Qualifications and Experience:
• Applicant must have attended at least a semester and be enrolled in at least six
(6) units as a student at California State University, Fresno for the 2023-2024
academic year
• Applicant must be a major in one of the College of Science and Mathematics programs
• Applicant must have a minimum 3.00 GPA (exceptions will be made on a case-by-case
basis)
• Preferred applicant to be a junior, senior, or graduate student (exceptions will
be made on a case-by-case basis)
• Applicant with customer service-related skills and knowledge of web-based applications
is preferred, but not required
• Applicant must have the ability to:
• Communicate effectively, both oral and written
• Work with diverse populations in a respectful and professional manner
• Work efficiently in a multi-task environment
• Maintain confidentiality
