Fresno State RISE Program
RISE - Research Training Initiative for Scientific Enhancement Program
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded RISE (Research Training Initiative
for Scientific Enhancement) program is designed to assist students from social, economic,
or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds to attain their doctoral degrees in the
biomedical and behavioral sciences.
The Fresno State RISE Program supports research training for students who are interested
in developing professional careers as research scientists. This federally funded training
program is designed to ensure that talented and motivated disadvantaged students can
obtain the background and skills that they need to enter and succeed in doctoral education.
Highly motivated faculty members from multiple RISE eligible departments are committed
to developing a highly interactive program to promote and ease the transition of students
into Ph.D. programs. A range of curricular, research and co-curricular activities
are planned to train and provide financial support for twelve undergraduate RISE students
each year.
